In January, 2026, we launched our new website after many months of working with The Modern Firm. They do wonderful work. Please tell us what you think!

History of this website

Here's the history of this website: In 2008, after an amazing many years spent in the trenches with the NH Public Defender as a trial lawyer and then as an Assistant Appellate Defender, I opened my own solo practice in Concord called "Lothstein Law, PLLC." I built the firm website myself on Godaddy, first as tedlothstein.com, and then when the firm launched, as lothsteinlaw.com.

I filled the website with information about criminal law and DWI law that I had learned over the preceding 14 years, rented office space and hung a sign. Google recognized the site as being an authority on criminal and DWI defense, which brought in a lot of business right from the beginning.

Client Zero

The first client who hired me faced a DWI-3d offense. He told me that he hired me because my website demonstrated a ton of knowledge and experience, and yet, it looked homemade, so maybe this guy will be a bargain!

Ted and Richard team up to form a Partnership

I liked being a solo, but then was beyond thrilled when Richard Guerriero expressed interest in teaming up as a partnership. In 2013, we formed Lothstein Guerriero, PLLC.

We hung a new sign, and had The Modern Firm build a new, much more professional website for us, NHDefender.com. But it incorporated the knowledge base from the lothsteinlaw.com website, plus a lot of new stuff we needed to write, which was a ton of work.

We bought a building, so yes, another sign...

Our first five years, we grew and thrived, so in 2018, we bought a building in downtown Concord. That meant it was time to get a new sign, the one that hangs in front of our office today!

Since then, we have hired two associate attorneys, added a third paralegal, and employed many wonderful law students and the occasional college student for internships in our Concord and Keene offices. Richard was elected President of the Bar, an incredible honor. Kaylee Doty-Johnson established a new and flourishing practice area for us, professional licensing issues, which leans into our overall theme of defending people from the government. And in 2024, I got named a Champion of Justice by the NH Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, an honor twice won by Richard in both NH and Louisiana.

A Brand New NHDefender.com

With all this "growing up" going on, we decided it was time to redo our firm's website from the ground up. On January 1, 2026, we re-launched a brand new NHDefender.com, which you are reading right now. The website you are looking at represents almost 18 years of work. If you find a piece of legal information in here that is, say, 18 years out of date, please consider that to be an "easter egg" of a sort - and let us know so we can correct it!

Thanks for checking out our website and reading this post. - Ted Lothstein
